Lifestyle

I just want to clear up a whole bunch of myths about all of the different ways there are to grow your salon to give you a great lifestyle.

The truth is there’s not a hundred different ways, there’s only three, and concentrating on just the three will grow your salon business massively over the next 12 months.

So I’m going to talk about each of the three and help you pick one to start working on.

I was on a Coaching call with my Foundational Salon Clients today and we went deep in one of the modules called ‘Money Map’.

This module is a step by step action plan that maps out how to grow your salon business by 30% in 12 months.

This is an extract from my best selling ‘Lifestyle Salon Owner’ book. Grab your copy from Amazon today

If you can look at it carefully, there are really only three ways to grow your salon business:

✅… Attract more clients to your salon.

✅… Convert these clients to visit more often.

✅… Deliver remarkable service so they spend more with you.

The truth is, to grow your salon business you don’t need 50 different strategies running. You need one that works.

Every salon that is in the ‘Lifestyle Salon Zone’ would have mastered one or more of these.

Clarity of what needs to get done and by when is the key to doing this well? We all fall short with procrastinating over what we should be doing and actually doing nothing, or ‘the shiny object syndrome’ where we move on to the next bigger and better way before we actually implement what we were currently working on.

You need to FOCUS.

F – Follow
O – One
C – Course
U – Until
S – Successful

Here’s what I know about growing a salon business:

You need to work on the three elements over and over again. You need to become the master of all three to be able to turn on that client tap whenever you want.

One of the things we do in the Lifestyle Salon Systems is:

  • We pick one element of growing your salons takings to concentrate on each month.
  • We focus on short, sharp actionable goals, that get you moving.
  • We want to work on one element until its completion and you have mastered it.

One of those three, one growth source which we are going to talk about today. That can grow your business  by 30% in 12 months and we do those 3 things over and over for one year.
So let’s get back to our topic about our 3 different ways to generate leads.

ATTRACT

This is authority marketing. One of the course strategies that we run with our clients is teaching them how to stand out from their competitors.

You need to break away from the other salons in your area, and make your salon stand out, let me explain: Clients are looking for new salons all the time. How many new clients do you see in a week? They have come from somewhere? But the problem we are seeing is that the clients don’t know why they should choose you. Many years ago we had good salons and bad salons, but today most salons are pretty good, it doesn’t matter if you’re a home salon, a high street salon, or a chain salon, the skills are the same and so is the experience that they offer. In fact stop reading just now and answer the following questions: If I was new to your town and I was looking for a new hairdresser or beautician, would I choose you? Would you be different from the others? Would I find you if I looked for a blonde hair expert or a facial expert? Would I know that you were the best, or even a salon that could fix my biggest problem? In the clients eyes when they’re looking for a new salon they don’t see many salons that stand out from anyone else. They all look the same, you all say you are good, you all say you’re friendly, you all say you’re colour experts, you all say that you are nail experts. So the only way a client can choose which salon they will go to is on price.

CONVERT

There is no point in you spending all of your money attracting new clients to your salon if you just lose most of them after their first visit.

This figure can be a lot higher with salons that have strategies in place to ensure they keep their new clients coming back. I want your salon to be great, I want to take your salon from good to great. A great salon is keeping on average up to 50% of all the new clients that enter their salon doors. That means 5 clients out of 10 clients will return with a great salon. That’s a 150% increase in client retention. If your salon is currently running at 50% new client retention then your salon is doing great, but let’s do even better. Existing clients; every salon will be losing some of their regular clients every single week, and your clients are no exception, they are dropping off and I want to help you plug that hole right now today, well, at least fill it as best as you can. The average salon loses around 28% of it’s existing clientele every year. That equates to 28% of your salons turnover walking out of your door and heading into your competitors salon. Astonishing isn’t it? Yep, you are losing 28% of your clients right now, they are leaving you, to never return! I wanted to repeat that because this is very important to your salons growth. You might not be realising or feeling it now, but if you stopped attracting new clients to your salon, and your regular salon clients are decreasing, your takings will eventually drop and you will start to struggle to pay your bills. This might be happening to you right now?

DELIVER

If you want your clients to pay good money to come to your salon, every element of the client journey needs to be impeccable, and that means working out a client journey in your salon that you can work on and tweak and make sure at every single stage of the journey that your client travels through with any member of staff is second to none.

Your clients need to be treated with an impeccable amount of tenderness and love with you being there or not. With client loyalty at an all time low it’s never been more important to get this right. We know that the average salon is losing 24% of their regular clients every year. Work on this strategy and make them numbers work in your favour. Make your clients stay more loyal. We also know that new client retention is shocking, the average salon is losing around 75% of its first time clients. Yep, re-read that statement, it’s shocking isn’t it!
