Warning! If You Grow Your Salon Fast Without Strong Foundations The Harder And FASTER You Will Fall!
The faster your business grows, the quicker it can fall, and from a greater height, unless you know what to watch out for. Knowing how and when to grow are key decisions that every small business must face eventually. But just because you made it past those early stages doesn’t mean you’re safe. Growing too quickly means you face another set of challenges, ones that put you at a greater risk than the slow growth that kept you up at night during those first few years. You cannot build a strong building without solid foundations and your salon business is the same. The Lifestyle Foundation Course Fundamentals Program Click Here For More Info. I would like to introduce you to Bruce (not his real name). He is passionate about what he does and loves going to work every day. Bruce has been a salon owner for 10 years old and his salon was busy, in fact it still is, he has 8 staff and that he is taking over $700,000 a year in revenue, he is nearly bankrupt. Bruce told me that he had maxed out his credit cards and he was so broke he had to ask his parents to lend him money. Bruce spends most of his working week working his hairdressing salon; in fact he works 6 days a week and is the highest earner in the salon. He is booked out and his salon is still busy. It is a mystery to him why he doesn’t have enough money to pay the bills. Bruce wears so many hats, he’s not only broke he’s a mess; he’s stressed to the max. There is always a direct connection between diluted focus and a diluted bank account. He explains he has hit rock bottom and things have to change, and cannot go on like this, “I need to start to work on my business”, but I don’t know where to start”, his life is a train wreck, and he’s desperate. He feels defeated and embarrassed. This wasn’t always the case. He started out 10 years ago with just him and a few staff and year after year he grew. He was growing fast, making good money. The salon was always booked out and he grew his salon to a team of 12. The salon was taking close to a million dollars a year and Bruce paid himself a good wage for his efforts. In fact Bruce even started to work only a few days a week. He was riding hi and thought he could take on the world. Holidays and fast cars later, a few staff leaving and taking clients. He was still living a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget. The inevitable happened, for the first time ever his bills out weighed his takings. This is the danger of growing fast. You do not have the infrastructure, the strong foundation to rely on. Just take your eye off the ball for a single second and debt will creep in, so slowly you do not realize at first, not until its too late. Then you go through the three stages of despair that arise when your salons are in a state of collapse STAGE, 1 -DENIAL We deny were struggling, someone asks how your business is going and you say “Great we’re getting busier and busier” knowing things aren’t great and you’re losing money. But you’re afraid to admit it, because what will people think of you? What if your staff starts to doubt you? Will they leave? What if the clients find out, will they leave also? Only when the salon is on deaths door do we admit that were struggling. ENTER STAGE 2-ADDICTED TO STRESS For many salon owners the stress levels at this point have become a way of life. You wake up stressed. Go to bed stressed. Stress about being stressed. You actually become proud to be stressed and now when someone complains about there problems you offer your story that always starts with “well you think you are stressed, I …..” THE END STAGE 3- WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME Your salon, going into failure is actually completely out of your control. You know the one. The one that starts with why me, why can’t I get ahead, just once. Why is this happening to me? I can never just have a good break without a staff member leaving or a bill is due that I forgot about. Why me. This is when most people give in and put it into the too hard box, accepting that it will never get better and all the fight in them is almost gone. Bruce was in stage 1 he was in denial about why, he isn’t in dire straights but it was creeping up on him. He has to start looking into the business and get a grip with all that is happening. He is taking enough money, that’s for sure. He just needs to manage his finances and get his bills in order. That may mean some BIG decisions on his spending including staff. This sort of collapse creeps up on many salon owners over a slow period of time, it’s the death reaper, and you don’t know it’s happening until it’s too late. But at this stage it can quickly be turned around. But most salon owners continue to lie to themselves year after year, always behind the eight ball, the same thing they have been doing since day one. Nothing is on an upward trajectory except their blood pressure, debt and taxes. The hardest and the easiest things are sometimes staring you in the face. The easiest thing to do it take a day off from the salon collect all the evidence you have and go away in a quiet area and judge your salon on the facts you have, the answers in your computer, you know your expenses are
Are you working long hours for little rewards?
If you are then you need to look at your salon set up. Are you the busiest person in the salon? That is so dangerous because the passion that is keeping your salon moving will undoubtedly lose its drive and your business will start to decline. I have seen this a hundred times before with salon owners that come to me for help. It’s the worst because you don’t know it’s happening, it’s slow and hidden, but before long you will struggle to pay bills on time, start borrowing money to stay ahead of the game, hoping that a busy week will come. It never does! That’s why 60% of salon owners close their doors and walk away, it’s so soul destroying. Don’t let your salon be the next statistic. But you can change this now, today…………. If you could learn to attract high paying clients to your salon, money will come in. If you could get these clients to fall in love with your salon and your staff and not you, then that would ease the pressure on you. If you could get your current clients to spend more then that would help you pay back some of that borrowing. Want to know what I do? I help salon owners grow their salons faster by concentrating on only the 3 ways to get any business making money and being strong. I believe that there is only 3 ways to grow any salon: ✅Get more bums on seats (more clients) ✅Get bums on seats to visit more often (get the clients to return faster using their data base) ✅Get bums on seats to spend more (the only way to doing that is increase the customer service value) For the last 3 years I’ve been a lifestyle salon coach and have taught hundreds of salon owners all around the world how to use a simple system to get their salons busy. How to make your salon a success.
Give Me An Hour And I’ll Show You How To Add $100,000 To Your Salons Takings If you’re working long hours for little return then something in your salon isn’t right. To grow your salon you will need clients full stop, but most salons cannot attract clients without specials or discounts. That’s because there are too many salons in town that are trying to attract clients on price. If you’re doing the same it’s a dangerous game to play. Unless you’re the cheapest salon in town you will always be fighting for clients in the War Zone. The average salon only gets to keep 25% of all new clients that come through the door, that’s usually because the wrong client has come in. They came for a cheap deal and will leave your salon as soon as they see another salon doing a cheap deal! Is that the sort of salon that you want? 😞 😞 😞 😞 😞 Attracting clients like that? Hi, I’m Richard the Lifestyle Salon Coach and I teach around 100 salon owners today on how to attract the right clients into the salon WITHOUT USING DISCOUNTS OR SPECIALS. If you attract the right client, the ones that want a good service and are happy to pay for it, they will stay loyal to your salon for longer. 💰 💰 💰 💰 💰 It’s not rocket science, but it has to be learnt. 💪 The world outside your salon has changed and clients are savvier than ever before. ✅ ✅ ✅ If you want to know the secrets I’m teaching, jump on a FREE workshop I’m doing this Monday 19th March at 7:00am (AEDT). I will not only show you a few new ways to grow your salon correctly, I will also show you what we do, how we coach and how I can personally help your salon grow bigger and faster than it’s currently doing. DRESS FOR SUCCESS; EMPOWER YOURSELF AS A LEADER
According to Mark Twain, “Clothes Make a Man.” But I think you would agree they make the woman, too. How you present yourself says a lot about you and your salon. In business, it really is true that you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. Dressing to impress does not mean you have to wear a suit, it simply means that you dress up. Your personal image impacts how others will perceive you – from your team and clients, to other salon owners. Do your competitors dress for success? If so, you need to keep up. If they’re not, then now’s your chance to take the lead. Remember, you are the representative of your brand which includes both yourself and your salon. Your image educates others on how you want to be approached. Every time you go out, you reflect an image that tells people how to treat you. Plus, your clothing influences your self-perception and confidence. When you feel good in your clothes, it impacts how you feel about and see yourself. Dressing better can have a positive impact on your overall mood. Being more positive, friendly, and polite are all traits that have shown to be impacted by dressing better. I have always lead dressed for success. I am known for my white hair, red lipstick, dressed in all black wearing mostly leather and/or lace. I stood out amongst my team. People would always ask, Is that the boss lady? I was a brand within the salon that has followed through into my coaching career. I feel confident and strong when I am dressed for work and my team see and feel it too. It reflects in my leadership style. People will take notice when you start dressing your best. Experiment and notice how your team and your clients react to you when you dress for success. DRESS FOR SUCCESS AND EMPOWER YOURSELF TODAY….
Communication with your Salon Team
“Do not listen with the intent to reply, listen with the intent to understand.” By Nicole McDonell – Coach/Mentor iSalon Coaching Communication with your team is one of the most important abilities of being a great leader in your Salon. A lack of communication skills has the potential to harm relationships with your team and you will be ineffective in understanding and leading your team. Let’s face it; everyone see’s reality differently and can interpret the same words very differently. Your job is to really work out exactly what they are trying to say and why. Communication with your team is the key to understanding and teaching your team. Only when you learn how to truly communicate effectively will you be able to understand and lead your team to profits. I have included some tips and trick below to help you start communicating better with your team. One of the most basic and important things to do in all conversations with your team members is to pause before replying. (A short pause of about 2-5 seconds). When you pause, you avoid the possibility of interrupting the team member if they are just taking a breath. Plus, it shows your team member that you are listening to them and processing what they have said by not jumping in with your own comments and opinions. It also ensures that you actually hear the speaker better. You will really understand what they are really saying with greater clarity. You also want to ask for clarification, “What do you mean?”. Then pause and wait…. The team member will then answer back with a lot more detail. You can also repeat back the team member’s words in your own words. This ensures you are both on the same page. “Let me see if I understand you.” What you are saying is? This shows that you are genuinely paying attention and making every effort to understand what is trying to be said or feelings explained. Listening builds trust. The more you listen to your team the more they will trust and believe in you. When you suspect, someone is not telling you the truth be direct and ask the million-dollar question and then be silent. It’s when that awkward silence happens it forces the other person to fill the silence. Often it is then that you will get the actual truth. I have used this tactic in many meeting and it is always a success. I have got a few unexpected answers but it really does save time by helping you get to the real truth quicker. Leadership is taking your stylists hand by hand
ARE YOU THE SUPER HERO OF YOUR SALON? By Nicole McDonell – iSalon Coaching Leadership is by far one of my most favourite subjects. I love being a leader, I love creating and building leaders, I love inspiring leaders and I love mentoring leaders, and I have had the privilege of being a leader to a huge number of amazing stylists for the past 25 years. I truly am blessed. So really, what is leadership? Leadership is taking your stylists hand by hand, whilst being just one step in front of them. leading them, guiding them to grow, reach their potential and their goals. It’s not about being controlling or manipulating. Leadership is about inspiring others to reach their goals. It’s only when they reach their goals that you will succeed in reaching your goals. Which is after all why you bought your salon. To have a successful and profitable salon. I live for coaching and hairdressing is my absolute passion. I coach salon owners so they too can attain success like myself through the growth of others. If you want to create a winning team, you need to commit to your salon and most importantly your team. With a winning team, you guarantee their success and your success follows. A successful and profitable salon cannot be achieved by one person alone. It is only when your team are all working together towards the same goal that success happens. Commit your time and invest your money into being the very best leader you can be. When you take this step, you create your very own path to being the successful salon owner that you have always dreamed of being. So, can you afford not to have a salon coach? Before I started working with iSalon Coaching I thought coaching was expensive and not an expense that my salon could sustain, but I was so wrong. Whether you are just starting out, or a superstar in the making, for less than a cut and colour a week you can have me as your very own personal coach. Every salon is different and every salon has different needs so each coaching session must be unique and specific to those needs. I love hairdressing and I love to grow salons to profit and beyond.
